The Four Loves in Greek

Welcome to my thoughts of the bible, these are my personal thoughts and a way i look at what i have learned over the years and i thought i would take the time to share. As i have read, studied, learned, more questions would come up. So the first thing i thought i would share is truth, what is truth, people say truth is the bible from Genesis to Revelation, they say truth is the Word, well they are all right to me.

The word to ponder is love, rather the four loves in ancient greek found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love#Ancient_Greek.   In  1960 C.S. Lewis wrote the book "The Four Loves" that explore four word of love being storge, philia, eros, and last agapē.

Some bible versus:

from Searchgodsword.org in the use of phileo i found this versus in the KJV Strong's version:
1Co 16:22 - "If any man love (5719) not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be; in the NWT I found 1Co 16:22 "If anyone has no affection for the Lord, let him be accursed. O our Lord, come!"
from the New World Translations of the Holy Scriptures (NWT):
1 Co 16:22-24  - "22 If anyone has no affection for the Lord, let him be accursed. O our Lord, come! 23 May the undeserved kindness of the Lord Jesus be with YOU.24 May my love be with all of YOU in union with Christ Jesus."

for agapē i found in the KJV Strong's version of the Searchgodsword.org:
1Th 3:12 - "And the Lord make you to increase (5659) and abound (5659) in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:"
from the New World Translations of the Holy Scriptures (NWT):
1 Th 3:12 - "Moreover, may the Lord cause YOU to increase, yes, make YOU abound, in love to one another and to all, even as we also do to YOU;"
compair this versus in these two bibles in the use of agapē:
for agapē i found in the KJV Strong's version of the Searchgodsword.org:
Re 2:19 - "I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first."
from the New World Translations of the Holy Scriptures (NWT):
Rev 2:19 - " ‘I know your deeds, and your love and faith and ministry and endurance, and that your deeds of late are more than those formerly."

I googled "number of times love in bible" and on web site about 8th search I got this link http://www.chacha.com/question/how-many-times-does-the-word-love-appear-in-the-bible and it shows 551 times, this must be an important word, important knowledge and important thought to act on for godly love!!

What is Gods Truth

As i have read, studied, learned, more questions would come up. So the first thing i thought i would share is truth, what is truth, people say truth is the bible from Genesis to Revelation, they say truth is the Word, well they are all right to me.

Word to ponder today is Truth, if you goto the Wickipedia.Org and search "truth" you will find "to agreement with fact or reality in particular".

Some bible verses:

NWT - John 18:38Pilate said to him: “What is truth?” And after saying this, he went out again to the Jews and said to them: “I find no fault in him.”
AKJV - John 18:38 “Pilate said to him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, I find in him no fault at all."

NWT – Romans 6:23 “For the wages sin pays is death,”
KJV strong– Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death;”

ASV – Hebrews 9:24 “For Christ entered not into a holy place made with hands, like in pattern to the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear before the face of God for us
NWT – Hebrews 9:24 “For Christ entered, not into a holy place made with hands, which is a copy of the reality, but into heaven itself, now to appear before the person of God for us”

ASV John 8:32, 36 “and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”, “If therefore the Son shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
NWT John 8:32,36 “and YOU will know the truth, and the truth will set YOU free.”, “Therefore if the Son sets YOU free, YOU will be actually free”

KJV from SearchGodsWord.Org John 14:6,7 - "Jesus saith (5719) unto him, I am (5748) the way *, the truth, and the life:no man cometh (5736unto the Father, but by me."

How Does it affect you and I?  It is quit simple, if you know Jesus Christ, if you know the Truth truly, and if the Christ set you free you are actually free for sin there for from death tomorrow.

Sin

Welcome to my thoughts of the bible, these are my personal thoughts and a way i look at what i have learned over the years and i thought i would take the time to share. As i have read, studied, learned, more questions would come up. So the first thing i thought i would share is truth, what is truth, people say truth is the bible from Genesis to Revelation, they say truth is the Word, well they are all right to me.

Word to ponder today is sin, what is sin?  We can find its meaning at Searchgodsword.org, miss” in the sense of missing or not reaching a goal, way, mark, or right point, to sin, miss, miss the way, go wrong, incur guilt, forfeit, purify from uncleanness.  In hewbrew Chata' http://www.searchgodsword.org/lex/heb/view.cgi?number=02398.

Some bible verses:

NWT-Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
KJV-Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

NWT-Judges 20:16 Out of all this people there were seven hundred chosen men left-handed. Every one of these was a slinger of stones to a hairbreadth and would not miss.
KJV-Judges 20:16 Among all this people there were seven hundred chosen men lefthanded; every one could sling stones at an hair breadth, and not miss.

ASV-Matt 7:14 For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and few are they that find it

NWT-Matt 7:14 Narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it

ASV-2 Tim 3:1-4 But know this, that in the last days grievous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, railers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good, traitors, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;

NWT-2 Tim3:1-4 But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God

NWT-Proverbs 13:20 He that is walking with wise persons will become wise, but he that is having dealings with the stupid ones will fare badly

ASV-Proverbs 13:20 Walk with wise men, and thou shalt be wise; But the companion of fools shall smart for it.

How Does it affect you and I, Sin is a concept of missing the mark, Jehovah shows us by telling us follow the narrow path, not to get too puffed up with pride and not to think to low of our self. Think of a dart board, the narrow path is staying in the middle and not the left or right, the puffed up pride is too high and low self-esteem is too low. Lets stay on target and not sin.
