Taking in Knowledge! Series P5

The word prayer from Greek word deh'-ay-sis and Hewbrew word tef-il-law' both translate with simular meaning of petition, request and supplication.  So who are we talking to when we pray, well that is the hear of prayers, Psalm 65:2.  You may be woundering how prayer is important in the taking in knowledge series, in Micheals model prayer in Matthew 6:9-13 not only shows us how to prayer, also gives us a light on the good news!

Prayer can be used for many thing like expressions of praise and thanksgiving (Psalm 34:1, Psalm 92:1), vows (1 Samuel 1:11, Ecclesiastes 5:2-6), confessions (2 Chronicles 30:22), and petitions or requests (Hebrews 5:7).

Psalm 92:1 praise and thanksgiving:
NWT of the JW - "It is good to give thanks to Jehovah And to make melody to your name, O Most High;"

2 Chronicles 30:22 confessions:

Hebrews 5:7 petitions or requests:
NWT of the JW - "In the days of his flesh [Christ] offered up supplications and also petitions to the One who was able to save him out of death, with strong outcries and tears, and he was favorably heard for his godly fear."

The model prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) of Micheal is a prayer that brings more light to the good news, Micheal model prayer asks for Jehovah's Kingdom to come!  Matthew 4:17 teaches us Micheal preached the good news!

Matthew 6:9-13

“‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. 10 Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth. 11 Give us today our bread for this day; 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the wicked one.’"
SearchGodsWord.Org - "9 After this manner therefore pray (5737) ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be (5682) thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come (5628). Thy will be done (5676) in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give (5628) us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive (5628) us our debts, as * * we forgive (5719) our debtors. 13 And lead (5661) us not into temptation, but deliver (5663) us from evil: For thine is (5748) the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."

Matthew 4:17
